somebody's life got threatened

One night, we were watching this tv program when my friend complained about the issue shown. The issue was about this residential area where a truck was parked there. The problem is not that the truck was parked in a wrong way or the driver stole somebody's parking lot but what inside it. By referring to the complainers he said "They'll never win this case. The driver has every right to park his truck there." To disagree with him I said "Why not? It'd be dangerous for the whole neighbourhood if he keeps doing that. You know the stuff is dangerous. It'll explode anytime specially during hot days." Still dissatisfied with my response he argued "The problem is, they don't even know when the things will explode."

I was actually speechless for a moment when he said such a thing. How come he could neglect the safety of the whole neighbourhood over a small thing? It's not like the driver will need to park million miles away from the area. He just need to find safer place or maybe he can just unloaded the stuff so everyone can have a good sleep. I didn't answer him for a moment because I was actually more interested in the way he thinks. Is he even a human afterall? Realizing my facial expression on him, he started to teach me about human rights and for a couple of minutes, I was listening to him but then my ear started to get irritated when he mentioned "You just have no idea when it will explode." With a little raised voice I stated my stand boldly "It's not about rights. It's about life!" He was stunned. Maybe reflecting. I with a little guilt in my heart for stunning him, quickly finish off my dinner.

It started good but then I realize that disagreeing on something even on a small thing could actually ruin the whole atmosphere specially when we're having a meal. Yet soon after that, my heart leaped for joy. Yeah, I won!
